Performs the LSP initialize handshake on connection, then serves textDocument/didOpen
and textDocument/didChange notifications as textDocument/publishDiagnostics until the
client shuts the server down.
Exposed separately from run so tests can drive an in-memory [Connection::memory] pair
instead of real stdio.
